Love Your Health Journey

Health. There are soooo many opinions out there concerning that one little word. When one person says this, and another says that, how do we know whom to believe? From social media influencers and celebrities sharing what they eat, to opposing dietary theories, it can be so intimidating to try to figure out what to do when it comes to your own health. And when you try a certain eating style and it doesn’t work for you, you feel you’re a failure for not feeling amazing like the diet claims you’re supposed to.

Beauties, you are not alone in feeling overwhelmed. There's a lot of pressure to think that our worth is based on what we do or do not put into our mouthes. This could not be farther from the truth. There is only one YOU in the universe and YOU get to decide the best way to nourish yourself. We know it is important to fuel our bodies with nutritious, and delicious food and I think we can all agree that the basic foundation of healthy eating includes more whole foods from the Earth, and less processed foods from a package. Beyond that foundation, your health journey is completely unique to you. Here are some tips to take with you for finding what makes your body thrive:

Experiment. Trial and error, trial and success. Take what makes you feel good from different eating styles that interest you and leave what you don’t like. There are certain ways of eating that we are intuitively attracted too and there are hundreds of different dietary theories out there that are all at our finger-tips. Find one that seems interesting, play with following it’s guidelines, and then adapt it to your individual needs. If a way of eating doesn’t work for you, know that it’s not you failing the diet, it’s the diet failing you. It just wasn’t meant to be, and that is totally okay! We learn and grow from there. *When I say diet here, I simply mean your way of eating, not as in a set of rules and restrictions.

Evolve. Your diet can (and should) change and grow. We are constantly evolving creatures. The food that our body needs to ingest to function properly changes on a daily, even hourly basis! Our food should echo where we are at physically in our environment as well as our mental and emotional state.

Confidence. It’s okay to look at other opinions for ideas and inspiration! I have my favorite podcasts and health sites that I love to scroll through to see what’s happening. I also follow a lot of health/lifestyle influencers that inspire me. But don’t take every single article or post as concrete. No one knows your body’s needs better than your body! It’s okay if it takes you awhile to find what makes your body thrive. If you’re new to the journey, understand that becoming in tune to your body is all about being aware and learning over time.

You have the power to take your health into your own hands. It seems intimidating but this is so powerful sissys! We can only do the best we can with the information and resources that we have available to us. Food is meant to be enjoyed, delicious, nourishing, and a reason to bring people together! Our journeys are meant to be loved, not dreaded. Whatever way you choose to eat, let it be the way that makes you feel vibrant and full of life!
